But chico you know Trump and the Republicans just can't give DACA without border security. Their base, including me, will abandon them. It may benefit Dems to refuse border security and have the DACA's deported. It would be sad and dems may pick up a few extra seats but the republican base will abandon republicans if DACA is approved without border security.

As a dem, I couldn’t be happier that the senate Dems didn’t bend on this one. They’re finally fighting for their base of peeps.

GOP controls everything and they’re struggling to get things done, which is why you’re seeing Dems pick up seats across the nation right now.

We also shouldn’t have a shifting standard, when things went bad on Obama’s watch, everyone blamed him saying as a leader the buck stopped with him. Now that Trumps in charge, you guys are coming up with excuses left and right for him failing to hold him accountable for his failures as a leader to get shit done even when he has a gop congress.

I don’t see this gov’t shutdown as a failure but if anyone is most responsible for failing to avoid it, it is Trump

I actually agree. They should have agreed to the extension. No need to give the wall or give anything. Republicans cannot ultimately fail to do DACA. They have until March 5. Don't do anything. Republicans will cave on it eventually. They have to. If they start deporting dreamers after 3/5 Republicans will lose the house, senate, their ass and everything else.

That said, the chaos is from constant mixed signals from Trump. Says one thing one day, another the the next and only stirs the pot. Utter lack of leadership. Anything that gets done is in spite of him, not because of him.

Dems have never had this severe case of butt hurt.

The senate really needs to change the 60 vote rule. The senate was traditionally the noble and respected chamber. Not anymore. There are 100's of bills the House has passed that will just die without debate. Including this budget bill. This would of passed easily if the threshold was 51.
