I know what an m60 is dude even though the saw took its place in 2004 era other than training and guard units. Using ground pounder as terminology is way before my time even “high speed” was an old mans term only my 1sgt used when we roomed together on my first deployment. Not sure how they did it in the 80s but by the posts I’ll go on a limb and say you spent a ton of time in TRADOC units doing FTX to pass the time if you bounced around from light to medium weapons outside of basic training weeks and familiarization ranges.

If you’re a hand then yeah low man would always be shit pay at the plants unless you’re a more skilled guy. Was using it as a reference since you said you wanted the plant side but of course the better pay is out in the patch or on the pipelines if you were an operator etc. I get that you were trying to do a political shot by saying PA steel is slow but if you have actually worked in it you’d know the turnover from plant workers to oil field and back unless you stick to one niche like welder or a dozen other jobs. It’s an always changing industry not like it was 40 years ago. Again, you go where the money is.
