Whattt, the ****. I don't even know what to say to this. What is Dumars thinking? He just bailed out the entire Nuggets organization.
NM. Just looked at the contracts. Nuggets are far from bailed out. Not quite as bad a move for Detroit as I thought. It'll be interesting at the very least.

What a trade for the Nuggets....I watched the Nugget/LA game on Saturday and they are a completely different team, much slower and were leading most of the game until Kobe took over...Lakers only shot 38%...Nuggets will be a team to deal with now...

Nuggets were a crap team with a huge hole at point guard; they at least have a chance of making the playoffs now. Detroit turns themselves from a contender into a non-contender, but with better salary cap picture going forward

Great move for Detroit. They move pieces of the old puzzle and salary, clear cap space and shake it up. Stuckey is a big Guard who can play point like Billups. Is McDyess getting cut by Denver and coming back to Pistons?

Agreed. Stuckey has a lot of upside and I also heard McDyess will be cut by Denver... I don't know if he's heading back to the Pistons though.

Still the domino effect from last year's Boston trades? First LA responded with Gasol (upgrade), then Phoenix with Shaq (downgrade), and now Detroit with AI (downgrade). Too much focus on old guys, and instant success. Just because Boston bought a championship, that doesn't mean it's the new trend. Meanwhile, the real building is happening in Chicago.

They are clearing cap space for next year. It's not like they intend to keep Iverson. He's way past his prime.
I agree that Chicago has a lot of young talent. They do have a logjam at the guard position though. I expect Gordon or Hinrich to be dealt later on this year.

There is no domino effect. Detroit is breaking the slow team up creating some serious cap space for the off season. With AI and Sheed gone next season, that is 35 millions dollars that is free. Detroit isn't buying a championship here, ace. Because you're a Chicago homer doesn't mean Chicago is rebuilding either. They need a legit coach first.

I think this is a perfect trade for Detroit!!! One of the best players in a half court offense ever, gets to go to the epitome of a "very good" half court team.
He was so being wasted on the Nuggets with Anthony doing the same thing he does. Guard overkill there.

This is obviously a move for the future. Not only is Iverson's contract up after this year, so is Sheed's. Their gonna have a ton of cap space come '09. Plus they still have Stuckey who is gonna be solid.

This trade doesnt happen if Detroit doesnt have Stuckey.
Stuckey was bound to be the starter anyways, Billups needed to go.
They also clear cap space for a big signing in the near future with Iversons contract.

WP,
I disagree.
Until they learn to play some defense, something that Carmello seems to be allergic to, the Nuggets will not be a "team to deal with". They'll still be fighting for the 7/8 playoff spot and be a first round loser in the playoffs if they make it...

Nuggets have always made the playoffs since Melo arrived. And they get swept or win 1 game. Nothing will change.

Great pickup for Detroit. Even if Detroit had basically 5 all stars starting last year, they seemed to get lost in the 4 quarter with the inability to score for some odd reason. Half the looses last year where from 4 quarter blown leads since nobody could score. With Iverson in the mix, rest assure they will not have that type of problem of losing leads and not scoring in the 4 quarter. With addition to Amir/Stuckey/Maxiell/Herman/Brown, If think Pistons Bench is scoring almost as much as the starters? It was a great move for Detroit. Billips never turns the ball voer and against Cleveland couple years ago, Detroit was up 2-0 than lost 4 straight. Billips turn over the ball way too much and that was the main reason lost to Cleveland. Billips is good for Denver and will go a great job. His time was up. Detroit bench and Detroit Younger talent are the best in the league will be the the best for the next 20 years with all the talent they have. It was a smart move, no matter what Plus Lebron is very interested in coming to Detroit soon anyways. Makes perfect sense.

this is a good trade for Detroit only because of cap purposes
But for this year this rules them out of any hope returning to the finals

Maybe if you believe the sports writers. Joe Dumars plays for now and wants to better his team right now. Lebron always wanted to come to Detroit with their impressive winning ways. If Detroit lands Lebron than fine but if not Joe Dumars will figure something out. Detroit has just too much talent from top to bottom.
If you beleive the sports writers than so be it. However I remember sports writers the last 5 years promising before Isiah Thomas was going to get fired no matter what. Every year that claimed and promised Isiah would be fired and nothing happened.
Same thing with Manny Ramirez. I was reading for six straight year how Boston for sure was going to trade Manny every year and nothing happened until last year.
So do not beleive it until you see it.
