Falcons up 24-0 at the half. They've outgained the Raiders 309 to -2, have a 20-0 edge in first downs and have run 46 offensive plays to Oakland's 10.

Tom Cable will be hired on a permanent basis any minute now.

I couldn't believe that the Raiders were -2 either. In fact I had to take a double take at that one.

Russell was a horrible draft pick, and they know it (now).

I'm glad I added another 2 units on my ATL -2.5 bet right before kickoff.

This is the most pathetic performance I have ever seen. How can Oakland even be an NFL team?

amazing the difference between a good or great ncaa qb and even a decent nfl qb..

the jump is like a quantum leap... you could prob create an alphabet of failed qb's in the nfl from the ncaa..... well at least 18 out of 26 letters.

                              may seem very un-pc..

but there is a tougher transition for sure.

believe me I'm not Racist, I live in an area that is 98.9% black, and I chose to work with kids here in community/leadership development.

But until you see a trend in drafting high qbs that are black, it is a HUGE gamble. there are a few black qb's that have been successful, but I think the busts and non-factors out weigh those.

the things qb's or any fb player is taught in a chicago public HS football team, is about what you would learn in a surburban 5-6th grade flag football league.

                                It is about style.

                                Pocket Passers >> Running QBs

Look at the stats....you have some years with Cunningham that were abnormal, and maybe a few more, but that's it.

Russell has/had bad mechanics. He scored wicked low on the Wonderlich so it was no surprise he had a hard time picking up a more complex offense. He is now playing against better athletes, so that advantage is gone.

for real Its not just about style...

the biggest factor ONCE you have the physical capabilities to be an nfl qb, are in the brain.... otherwise who would EVER think that guys named Marino, Kelly, Favre, Brady, Manning would be good in the nfl...

seriously line up brady and manning in an nfl combine group of 09 draft canidates, in their post-colliegiate form and see how many people think THEY would be successful out of that lot.

there are intangibles, that are WAY more important then what the average joe-square can see on the ncaa field that factor into a good nfl qb.

The problem with Russell is he played for a coach/system in Les Miles that did not prepare him for the NFL. I just could not believe this guy was a No. 1 pick and everybody was on him. Top 20 maybe. But No. 1? It was a terrible pick. This guy never showed anything at LSU other than athletic ability. He was not an accurate passer and did not protect the football. All traits that kill you in the NFL.

                                          Russell's stats: 6 of 19 for 31 yards and 1 interception. Unreal.

Atlanta shut them out. 3 first downs for Raiders all in 2nd half. The Falcons defense was superb today. This was the defensive performance of the decade!
