PS3 volume issues (ok, a bit OT)

Here's my problem: if I play a DVD, the volume is limited. Games can blast, TV can blast. but DVDs aren't nearly loud enough, although volume control works fine at lower levels.

I'm using an HDMI cable with a 1080p HD LCD. How do I enable loud volume? (I need it because my treadmill is loud).

Had the same problem - there's an option somewhere to compress the dynamic range, thus boosting the low-volume scenes. Will check in a few.

Triangle during playback to bring up the options overlay, then AV settings, then scroll down and enable "Dynamic Range Control".

It will make loud scenes quieter, but normal scenes will come in louder.

I have both.. X360 for the 40' flatscreen for DDR, PS3 for the office/treadmill area.
