I just posted in CrazyL's teaser thread. I am well aware that winless home dogs are over 60% ATS at this stage of the season, but most of those covers were not vs. teams trying to save their season. Jags would be done at 3-5.

I gave my Jags reasoning above, As for Bucs, among other things, favorites of over six points are 30-5 ATS right before their bye.
No, that is not the sole reason for the play, but given the mismatch on the field, it is a nice tidbit.

But the logic behind the trend is sound, Nobody wants to go into a bye week with a loss, and the fact that the team is a decided favorite generally means that it is a good team.
Besides, like I said, the trend is not my actual reason for the play but instead provides some very interesting support.
