John Rocker

With the insightful commentary Ozzie Guillen has been offering lately, many talking heads have reintroduced the name of John Rocker into their daily discussions.

I wonder what he's doing now. Many times I thought that maybe he was a poster here by the name of TGO. Did anyone else ever get that impression?

As you noted, I find it very amusing that the 'talking heads,' are going to Rocker for any comments. Just their way of reintroducing that tired old story back into their daily column inches I guess.

Yes, I suppose it is difficult to see the similarities between the two.

Who could ever imagine TGO saying something like...

"The biggest thing I don't like about New York are the foreigners. I'm not a very big fan of foreigners. You can walk an entire block in Times Square and not hear anybody speaking English. Asians and Koreans and Vietnamese and Indians and Russians and Spanish people and everything up there. How the hell did they get in this country?"

"...looking like you're [riding through] Beirut next to some kid with purple hair next to some queer with AIDS right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids. It's depressing."

"I'm not a racist or prejudiced person, but certain people bother me."

I have to admit that Rocker was indeed much more eloquent than TGO.

I understand the similarities, cap. Just haven't thought about Rocker at all until this week when his name came up in the Ozzie Guillen discussions.

I saw an interview on CNBC last night with him. Rocker hasn't changed a bit except he's got some hippie hair now.

He said something close to this to the interviewer, "Marriotti needs to get over it. Ozzie called him a name, so what? If Marriotti was a man, he'd address it with Ozzie and then this issue would be done. This is so overblown."


I think Rocker is still totally roided up. I think he was when he was pitching in MLB and he looks like he still is.

ebone, did you happen to hear rocker's comments on how he stopped going to the counsiling meetings, and not paying the fines.

how can MLB to allow him to get a way with stunts like that. it's just another thing you can blame on bud selig.
