How important is DEFENSE/ST for Fantasy Football?

Is it worth trading a player for a quality defense. I have the Chiefs Defense

Nope, you can swap D's week to week based on who they play. In other words, every so often pick up a new Defense that plays a crappy turnover prone offense and you should be fine.

Just play DST's based on matchups each week. Last year I tried to pick up whoever was playing the Jags or Colts, and I did pretty well.

no but just because u have the chiefs doesn't mean u need to keep the chiefs each week, start the best defense each week
with matchups

Never trade a player for a D/st unless he is deep waiver wire to begin with and it is one of the top 3.

Actually, never trade for a D/ST.

However, I do like reaching a bit early (not a lot) for a quality D.

There are literally good matchups every week with waiver wire D's.

Grab tennesse D/ST if its on the wire in your league. Big sleeper D and available in a lot of leagues and not even being drafted.
