World Series should be at a neutral site
With a full expectation of being shot down, I offer this opinion. Like the Super Bowl, pick a location in advance that has an extremely high expectation of good weather.

If we take it as given that MLB is not going to shorten the season - next year could run as late as Nov. 7th - it seems only a matter of time before something extremely unfair is going to happen to some northern team that plays outdoors.

They are going to be hit with an unplayable blizzard right when the show comes to town. MLB will either have to move their games somewhere else - which would be borderline scandalous - or decide the championship in ridiculous conditions which are (a) no fun to watch for fans and (b) completely non-conducive to proper baseball performance.

The first part of Game 5 in Philly was awful. Fortunately things did clear up eventually - this time. But sometimes weather systems can be much more persistent. I am Canadian. I know. If they're going to keep extending the season, I submit that it is not a question of if it will happen but when.

    That is all.

I would have to vote no on this one Mudcat. It just wouldn't be practical over the course of a 7 game series, not to mention it's not fair to fans.

They just need to add seven to ten double headers for each team to shorten the season by up to 10 days.

Man, I used to love the "ol' days" with the scheduled doubleheaders. Not the cheap-ass way they do it now, making everybody leave and bringing in a new crowd. I mean head down to Exhibition Stadium and watch the BlueJays play 2 versus the RedSox, or the Yankees or whomever.

True, it was Exhibition Stadium, and thus not the best climate to watch a game or two, but what the hell. There were worse ways to spend 7 hours.....

I'll twist it around for you Mud and suggest that the Stupor Bowl should be played at the stadium of the team with the best record among the combatants. Why piss on the fans who have footed the bill for 170+ games to get to the World Series? Can you guarantee that it won't rain in Arlington, Texas, or Los Angeles, California, at this time of year Mudcat?

Have each team play a doubleheader once a month and you lop a week off the regular season, at least that way you can avoid some of the colder weather. But the only way to guarantee a game won't get rained on is to put a roof on the stadium.

                  I agree with mudcat.

But baseball is hidebound, they'll never do it.

Or, I'd like the see that ridiculously long season cut back to 154 games, like it was for decades.

                  But, money talks.

Or, to start, they can play the first game of the WS on a neutral warm weather field. Than divide the other games, 3-3, if it goes to 7

                      That would be nice.

But I would not play it at a neutral site. Takes the fans out of the action. A seven game series at a neutral site seems ridiculous especially for the fans.

Well, playing eight doubleheaders a year would in essence make the season the same length as a 154-game scheule. And they could be all be day-night doubleheaders so that the owners don't lose a gate.

They probably wouldnt even sell out this last world series if it was in California.

TB barely sold out their own stadium.

Weather has never been a serious problem until this year.

Best idea yet, by far. But I do like the idea of bringing back the scheduled doubleheaders. If they made that happen, along with making the beer cheaper for those occasions, I would start attending MLB games again instead of going to AAA games. Go Portland Beavers! (I'm praying for them to get their brand-new baseball only stadium in Lents)

Funny, there is an article in the NY Post today on page 90 that says "Push to Eliminate Home-Field in Classic.". It basically says the same thing as you. If I were you I would be ticked off since somehow Bart Hubbuch went national with your opinion.
