I don't even know the rule, it would of been a catch in the NFL. Thames caught the ball took like 3 steps than ran into his own man and the wall and dropped it.

I believe the rule is you have to maintain possession of the ball throughout the catch. When "the catch" ends is a somewhat subjective opinion of the ump. This looked like a drop.
I can't remember who was playing but there was an outfielder that laid out coming in for a catch had it snowconed throughout the dive and slide and the ball came out at the end of his slide. They called it a drop.
