Should we pound A&M before they go to 9?

I can't remember a more jacked up program from spring to summer as this one. I think they are going to run roughshod over an always dangerous La tech team. A&M QB is going to turn heads.

While we are in the great state of texas I keep watching for the O/U for Tex vs Wy. I think that's a hard one for the books to put up. That Longhorn defense is on par with a top SEC defense. If that O/U wonders up above 45ish could be a banger.

Meanwhile A&M like I said, still breaking in new parts, and are more concerned with establishing themselves in the SEC than dealing with a paltry WAC team, so A&M is more focused on Florida the next week than Louisiana Tech, I think A&M is in for a real surprise, Louisiana Tech won't be the pushover or tune up they are thinking they will get.

It is at a neutral site and the crowd should be slightly partisan toward A&M, but Louisiana Tech is going to be more fired up than A&M, since Louisiana Tech is a shoe in to win the WAC so they have bigger fish to fry, while A&M like I said is more focused on the SEC.

A&M still won't play defense, and LA Tech's offense is good enough to make them pay.

I like Wyoming to cover here, +29.5 is a steal, its one of the easiest picks of Week 1, no way will Texas score enough to cover. Texas will just run the ball all game, ball control, run the clock, not light up the scoreboard.

I have Louisiana Tech locked in at +7.5, but I have seen the line drop to +6.5 at some places, sharps are moving the line down right now, but public has not gotten involved yet, so if boneheads and the public keep pounding A&M because of the sole reason A&M is an SEC team and Louisiana Tech is a WAC team, more for me, would be nice to grab Louisiana Tech at double digits.

Public will look at this and see an SEC team vs. WAC team and automatically jump on the SEC team, but there is a reason the line is at 6.5 right now.

I watched Louisana Tech outplay TCU in the Poinsettia Bowl last year, only to lose in the end, and I think Texas A&M is on the same level as that TCU team, maybe a bit worse, and Louisiana Tech will be better and fired up, Louisiana Tech picking up where they left off last season while A&M is somewhat having to start a new page.

Plus Louisana Tech should have beaten Kevin Sumlin last year, but lost, LA Tech knows Sumlin's system

A&M will still have a shit defense, that won't change from last year. Like I said A&M is in for a rude awakening if they think this game is a tune up or prep game for Florida the next week.

LA Tech is my sleeper BCS buster team since they have 3 winnable non conference games against BCS conference teams, A&M/Illinois/Virginia, I could easily see this team winning all 3 of those games, and then winning the shitty WAC.

The only area Louisiana Tech is thin at is defensive end, which I don't think will matter that much in this game since A&M will be pass happy. The linebackers and defensive backfield are back, including a great safety tandem of Chad Boyd and Jamel Johnson

Offensively they have pretty much everyone back, including Colby Cameron, solid QB, and great receiver Quinton Patton and running back stable that is good. And the offensive line is solid as well, 3 NFL level prospects on that line

But the X-Factor, I think, is special teams, they have the best punter in the country Ryan Allen, which should help them in field position.

A&M couldn't finish games last year, in part because of how they practiced, they practice NFL style practices which leads to a lack of conditioning and 4th quarter meltdowns. Defense and conditioning led to their downfall

And Kevin Sumlin's system isn't really built to finish teams off either, look at how many times Houston got out to big leads and choked it away, these pass happy offenses like June Jones and Kevin Sumlin are terrible at finishing teams off, since there is no emphasis on running the ball, its hard to run out the clock, and the 3 and outs and fast pace means the defense gets no chance to rest and is on the field too much, leading to more 4th quarter disaster.

Look at all the solid defenses over the past few years, such as Alabama, TCU, etc, these defenes are good because their offenses are ball control time of possession chewing offenses, which allows the defense to be off the field a lot and be able to go 100% when they are actually on the field, instead of being off the field for 1 minute while the offense does a quick 3 and out and having to go back out still winded.

Not really, we have seen this before, Wyoming and Texas have met in 2009/2010, while Wyoming was leading at halftime in 2009 and 2010, they scored off of special teams and defense, where their offense just couldn't move the ball so Texas eventually pulled away in the 2nd half

I don't get why coaches do NFL style practices in college... its ridiculous, sets the team up for failure

I know June Jones at SMU is a coach who does NFL style practices, and it has cost his team some games, despite SMU being respectable the past 3 seasons

For those who don't know... NFL style practices are practices where only the 1st team gets a large majority of the reps, and the 2nd team only gets some token reps, there is a scout team, but they are not allowed to make contact, they just kind of stand there and move in the direction they are told, but can't engage in contact or try to make a play. I'd say its more of a walkthrough than a practice

It's basically a light pillowfight practice set up to avoid contact, hard hitting, and injuries, and from getting tired

Meanwhile at TCU, not going into much detail, but our practices we had scout teams that were allowed to hit hard and hit back, they were very physical and very tough practices, 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams all got equal reps, there were some periods in practice where our 1 offense went against our 1 defense and was full contact and tackling to the ground, lots of contact and running. And we were successful

They could go 0-12 and they would all still think they have a great football team

The year we went to the Rose Bowl, all my A&M buddies critcized us saying we would get killed in the Big 12, how A&M was such a better team than we were, and how they would kill us if we played them. Fair points, but it wasn't based in reality, and I think they were just jealous. We only had 1 common opponent that year, Baylor, and we killed Baylor while they squeaked by.

Line hasn't been 6.5 practically anywhere in over 2 weeks Vegas and offshore. 5Dimes and LVH have never even been 6.5 at any point, but right "sharps moved the line down", in schizo land.

The line opened 6.5 most places, up to 7.5/8. Keep spinning that fact however you like. Vegas tourist betting $12 doesn't make that move. Most of the real "public" isn't even betting these games until next week.
