I might be signing out for a while...
Been battling a virus on my comp for the past couple of days. It started when my anti protection said a trogen was trying to enter my comp. I thought this would be impossible as I have my comp firewalled and a very good anti virus program running with a second one installed (just in case the first one stops for an unknown reason)...To say the least it ended up getting threw and now it has ****ed me royally. The intial one wasnt so bad. Alls it did was give me two pop ups a minute, which I eventually got down to 1 pop up every 20 minutes. Well what eventually happened was the the pop ups lead me to more sights and I caught an acutal virus from one of them. This one is a bit worse and comes with a keylogger or tracker. So needless to say I wont be actually logging into any important websites anytime soon. Anyway I have to see about getting this fixed by a pro as I have already run several programs to clean it up, but it comes right back once I hook up my internet connection. I have been using Ad-Aware and Spybot-Search & Destroy. At this point I have three options.

Throw this laptop away and buy a new one
    Pay someone to fix it
Wipe the harddrive complelty and reinstall windows.

Gonna have to see what happens but this library posting is horrible. Anyways take care and talk to ya guys in a few.

Pay someone to fix it, unless you are looking for a reason to buy a new laptop. Also, wiping out windows and restarting fresh is a good option if dont have any important files saved. I always save my documents and important files on a USB drive in case of disaster.

I'd try to fix this one first like mtneer suggested. Either way, hope you get it fixed and get back on-line soon.

Save important files, and reformat the hard-drive.

How do you know it's not just a bunch of spam programs you installed? A system restore or reinstall of your operating system is probably not a bad idea, however I won't be held liable for any further damage you may cause by attempting that.

Dell selling for $300 nowadays? Can't say that's surprising, that's all they've been worth for a long time.

Nah.... it was a price mistake, actually. Surprised they honored it cause it should've been $999.

Sell it, people buy broken everything on ebay for a good amount considering it's condition.

Wonder where you got it...EOG? Need to post with a rubber these days.

Odd thing is that you're screwed if you get a Trojun. When I was younger, I was scewed if I didnt have a Trojun. I guess times have changed.
