Do not understand 5dimes soccer lines
For instance they have nottingham forest -.5 -101 but then the moneyline is +106.

Isnt -.5 and ml essentially the same thing?

team has to win by 1 to win the wager anyways so why are the spreads different

Aren't spreads and ML's two completely different bets.

Spread goes through the duration of OT, and penalty kicks.

ML only through regulation or 90min +extra time.

            ???

No all books offer the same all bets graded after 90 mins + Added time

Extra time doesn't count for soccer matches

think you forgot to include IF the spread is PK, any other line and its obviously not a push, and the PK odds will never be the same as the 3 way ML (1X2)

this is incorrect on a spread of -.5 which the OP was asking about.

he is asking about a spread where he is laying points though, and the answer to his question is there is no difference. 5Dimes often offers different lines for whatever reason on the ML and -.5 spread.

                            Match Result/Straight Up
This is a straight bet on the outcome of a match, either a home win, a draw or an away win.
                            Correct Score
This allows you to place a bet correctly predicting the final score on the match. Quotes for unusual correct scores such as 7-5 are available.
                            First Goal Scorer
Simply select the player you think will score the first goal from the players listed*. Please note that any First Goal Scorer bet has action and there are no refunds if a player is unable to participate in the match. Quotes for other players are always available on request.
                            Scorecast
Name the first player to score* and the correct score of the match:
e.g. Michael Ballack to score the first goal and FC Bayern to win 2-0, both options must be correct for the bet to be a winner.

*Winners will be determined by whichever player the relevant governing body credits with scoring the first goal (when they release their official results at the end of the game) and will be the winner for betting purposes.
                            Time of First Goal
This allows you to place a bet on when the first goal will be scored in the match. Winners will be determined by whatever time the relevant governing body release as the time of the first goal (when they release their official results at the end of the game), and will be the winner for betting purposes.
Half time / Full Time Prediction
This is a bet on the double result of the match. First you must correctly predict what the outcome will be at half time (either the home team leading, a draw or the away team leading) and then you must correctly predict the final result of the game (either a home win, a draw or an away win).
                            Half Time Result
This is a straight bet on the outcome of the match at half time. You can bet on the home team leading, a draw or the away team leading.
                            Score / No Score

                            Match Goals
This allows you to correctly predict the combined total number of goals scored by both teams in the match.
                            Double Chance
This allows you to place a bet on a team to win or draw
                            Asian Handicap
This bet can be in the form of a single or double handicap. In a single handicap one team is favoured to win by a certain number of goals, which is known as the handicap. This is then subtracted from the final result to determine the winner.
There is also the possibility of a "Draw No Bet" line, in which case there is no handicap, and all stakes are refunded if the match ends in a draw.
In a double handicap the game has two different handicaps involved, and the stake is split in half between them. Please see the examples of all possible double handicaps below.

                            Grand Salami
This bet is similar to an 'over/under' bet of a game, but encompassing two or more games of the same competition played on one day. Simply predict the total number of goals to be scored in all games listed.
                            • In the event of one or more matches being postponed, all bets will be considered void.
                            • All games listed count for betting purposes even if one or more games are not offered as a single match bet.

Please note: 'Grand Salami' is the overall term used for a bet offer encompassing the total goals of two or more games. However, Intertops.com uses its own terms for total goals from different leagues. For example, 'Grand Banger' for the English Premier League or 'Grand Mortadella' for the Italian Series A.
For the vast majority of soccer matches, the home team is always listed first unless otherwise noted. For all of the different soccer bets listed above, only the result after regulation time (including time added on for stoppages) will count for betting purposes! Extra time, golden goals or goals scored in a penalty shoot out do not count unless otherwise noted!

this has nothing to do with soccer.

i've seen this on other sports on a few sites when they have a drop down menu that lets you pick the spread. the pk line and the moneyline often don't match. obviously just choose the best one.

Moneyline and pk lines dont match because they are very different bets - a draw/ties gets your bet back on the pk and you lose the wager if you took the moneyline - which will always pay better than the Pk line - its riskier.

As for the moneyline vs the -0,5 bet, they are the same thing, the reason they'll sometimes be a couple points difference in price is some adjustment by the bookie when money comes in on the other side of the bet. Just pick the best price when they are different, because they are the exact same bet.

Hotelis, beware that over 2.25, 2,5 and 2,75 goals are all different bets. Essentially, when you bet over 2.25 goals, you are making a dual bet on 2 and 2.5 goals - half you bet on each. Say you bet 100 dolars on over 2.25. Then, you'll have 50 dolars on over 2 goals and 50 on over 2,5. Meaning, if the match ends with two goals, you push half your bet and lose the other half, so you get 50 dolars back. 2.75 works the same, half your wager goes to over 2,5 and the other half to over 3 - so 2 goals in the game and you loose the whole bet, 3 goals you win half and 4 or more and you win the full bet.

If you don't know exactly what each bet means then you shouldn't be betting soccer. -.5 and side betting is the same thing. Also Extratime and Penalties if used do not matter in any of these bets unless stated differently. all bets are 90 min+injury time. Also if you do not understand asian handicap then stay away from the 2.25 goal total or the -.75 spreads.

Silvap is correct. It's my understanding that the book makes more profit off of 3-way betting (win, lose, draw) than on spread betting and this is reflected in the small price difference (-.5 vs. ml), although at times they are the same. Just go with the better price.

No wonder so many people hate soccer on betting forums, cause they are absolute ******* idiots who don't read the rules then are surprised when their bets lose!

Not to threadstarter since he asked the question, but to some of you who cluelessly replied.

Basically the reason -.5 is different is because they have to calibrate it with the opposite +.5 line. Whereas the ML line on the three-way are the purer odds. That's what I've always thought I've known at least.
