USC has no chance to reach title game.
Even an undefeated Penn State team needs a Texas loss to have a chance to get in, since the SEC champ is a gimmie for one slot. (Assuming SEC champ is either Georgia, Florida or Bama).

Kudos to Penn St but if the BCS title game doesn't involve the Big12 and SEC champions it doesn't do justice to college football. It will actually encourage PAC10 and Big10 to continue scheduling easy schedules so they can get a backdoor to the BCS title game.

If Texas beats Texas Tech then they need to beat (I am going to assume) Missouri. Texas already took care of Missouri so I think that Texas has locked up a spot. Texas Tech is not going to win out because they would have 4 extremely difficult games left (I am counting Big 12 champ). What if Missouri beats the Big 12 South winner? Would that previously undefeated team still go to the BCS
Alabama can win out they need to defeat LSU, and then beat Georgia/Florida
If Georgia/Florida (whoever wins this upcoming week) win out then then beat Alabama they are going to the BCS championship.
So unless the Big 12 North team beats the Big 12 South team, or something weird happens in the SEC then Penn State will go to the BCS.
So in conclusion a lot of upsets would need to occur along the way for USC to have a chance to play what would be most likely Penn State. Which is interesting because in the real world it is Penn State who they will most likely be playing in the Rose Bowl.
