Great choice Opie, Northern Michigan is a beautiful place. I would like to be anywhere but here in the South with the the humidity in the summer. Upstate New York is great for fishing too. Hemingway spent alot of summers in Northern Michigan and fished those waters, he wrote alot about them in his letters.

Look at Torch Lake. The sand bar there is a famous hang out spot. Kid Rock grew up partying there. He refers to it in his song "All Summer Long". He had a house here until recently.

Not boring for us. The guys went fishing every morning, and then we hung out on the sandbar for several hours...threw the football around, ate all damn day out on the boat, swam around with the kids. Then took the kids tubing & skiing from about 4 till dark. Trust me....by the time we finished grilling steaks and making s'mores, everybody was ready for bed.

The house we rented had a 50" big screen in the great room. My favorite thing about the whole trip was that it never got turned on once the entire time we were there. My wife asked our daughter if she wanted to watch spongebob or something last nite as we were getting packed up. She said no. She wanted to go outside and feed the ducks down at the lake.

Good stuff.

i can't go a single day without making some bets and playing poker, even on family road trips we end up at racetracks and casinos

i would be checking the lines while fishing, making bets hanging out on the sandbar, and watching the games on my phone while driving the boat with the kids waterskiing

Opie, huge fan of yours here. I take a lot of vacations too and it's important to stay healthy and clear-minded in life. Opie, I think you look stylish too, especially for fising. I usually wear $100 underarmour performance fishing shirts when I fish too. It helps to look good when you fish.
