Do mods have access to our PM's?

Seriously, I didn't have access to PM's and I never had any indication that anyone was doing anything untoward with the "power." I take Dozer's explanation here at face value.

As with so many things, a few bad apples try to screw things up for the rest of us. I don't blame SBR for not being a doormat for weasels. I blame the weasels.

From my experience, almost everything that happens here can be taken at face value. There is no behind the scenes talk of manipulating any information. No conspiracies. I was never asked to do anything other than say what was on my mind - even if it was criticizing an advertiser.

I like the PM feature and am glad we have been able to keep it.

ID, realistically speaking it is possible for them to read pm's if they have downloaded the modification allowing them to do so, but as to whether or not they have this ability I do not know.

It is not a standard feature with Vbulletin though. Standard features only allow admin to see how many pms you have in your box which includes both inbox and outbox.

Now, remember I did not say whether they do or do not have this modification, but from what I know it would take someone with administrative access to be able to do so.

Those with moderator status here could be telling the truth that they can not read them, but that does not mean that there is no one here that can.

It is the same at any place.

The other thing to consider is how well do you trust the person you are pm'ing with. Can you be sure that they will be your "friend" a year from now? What is preventing them from posting the pm you send?

I hope you realize that Vbulletin is completely customizable, that all site content is stored in an easily accessible database, that a programmer with half a brain can write the php code to access the messages in about two minutes, and that SBR has a programming staff on the payroll. No download is necessary. Any and every forum is capable of viewing PM's if they want to.
