and this actually IS obama's fault, he shut down the wisconsin enbridge pipeline, directly affecting prices in the milwaukee/chicago/detroit area.
there are 3 refineries shut down out of 7, and there's not enough supply around here because of that
GAS PRICES WERE $1.84 SIX DAYS AFTER OBAMA INAUGURATION, NOW THEY'RE MORE THAN TWICE THAT
obama is really helping the lower and middle class huh?
1.84?
Is that true?

To top it off, it was 3.25 here at 3am when my husband went to work Friday, at 9 or 10 it was 3.95 and then by evening when my husband was coming back through it was 3.40 again all at the same station...
that's crazy, in wisconsin it's illegal to change prices at any station more than once in a 24 hour period but illinois can pull that stuff

yep
and in march 1999 (not too long ago) gas was 90cents a gallon!
so people are making essentially the same but paying 4x as much for gas/cable/phone/etc. the essentialls have gotten really expensive, no wonder people are living paycheck to paycheck or using ************ just to get by

i know right? you get the current prices stuck in your head and forget how cheap it used to be.
but that only seems to be the case with gas, with almost everything else (candy bars, movie tickets, etc) you remember prices from when you're 16-18 years old and started paying for stuff. so over time with inflation you say "damn a movie ticket should be $5 not $9".
that's one of the main reasons older people complain about prices for everything being so high, they have those prices stuck in their heads from teenagers. but gas fluctuates so much it is in a different part of the brain

3.95$ here was round 3.10$ on Monday
Don't usually pay attention to gas prices because no matter what you gotta pay it no point in getting all worked up

but the current problems are due to enbridge pipeline shut down for oil spill

Yeah that's because oil fell precipitously from 3.50 to 1.80 between about July 2008 and January 2009 because the world economy went frozen and went to the brink of complete collapse so the demand dried up. That was the only reason it went that low. It was in the 3's or 4's for years prior. I guess if you want that again we'll get gas prices back down there.

Deuce it's simple pal - there have been some refinery/production shut downs in the last 2 months that are catching up now, its hurricane season as well...and don't forget the ethanol mandates in gasoline which automatically adds to the pricing (ethanol comes from corn, in a drought now so corn prices are up, do the math).
