I'll fight you anytime, Bi-Archie. But only if you promise to wear long wool socks and heavy boots.
If you even grazed me with those hobbit feet I'm afraid I would convulse into massive retching.

I was a professional fisherman, pal. I've never seen anything from you that would lead me to believe you are anything more than a weekend recreational angler.
For me to try to discuss fishing with you would be pointless for both of us. it would be akin to Tiger attempting to talk golf with the defending Member/Guest runner-up from Brookhill.

Always a good formula to steal from one of the worst teams in the league to ... push ... to ... the playoffs? LoL. Funny how it works out for the Rangers dorks, CJ Wilson got to duel Darvish a couple times, now he's first up against Dumpster. I got $10 that says Oswalt comes in to mop up for Dempster.

Still can't figure out why the Rangers were so tight with their prospects. They needed some help to get them over the top, and these two trades with the Cubs weren't it. They had more than enough ammo to acquire whoever they wanted and they punted. I think that the G.M. is going to regret this.

Who should they have gotten instead?

They could have gone after a high end pitcher, but that's not their game plan. They held onto their two top prospects and are continuing on that path. Too bad neither of them is a pitcher who can help this year because that is going to be the downfall of this team come the playoffs if they survive that long. Dempster, Darvish, Holland ..... not exactly a scary arm in the bunch.

I think they should have anted up for Greinke (probably in addition to Dempster). Also a quality defensive catcher (definitely not Soto). They could have also used another arm for the bullpen- I'd never trust Nathan in the postseason. They may be able to get the catcher and reliever in August, but they aren't going to have the quality starting pitching they will need in the postseason.

Who was in their rotation last year that made it so much better than their current staff?
Harrison, Darvish on pace to both win 18+ games. Feldman looking great in his past 5 starts.
Nathan certainly exceeded everyone's expectations as a closer.
I 100% agree with them not making a move for Greinke or Lee. Neither of those two is exactly a sure thing, and the downside on that trade is very high.

The Rangers have been 5 games over .500 since the end of April, and they've basically been spinning their wheels since June when Hamilton came back to earth. They've got two teams breathing down their necks, and their two big acquisitions (with unlimited $$$ to spend and a ton of prospects to move) are Dempster and Soto? Obviously, their GM is taking a calculated risk with an eye on 2014, I think that risk is going to blow up in his face. Their pitching as it stands has way too many warts.
