Maybe just me being a cheap fukk but in the past I had success just being polite and ask nicely if something better was available (like a specific tower that had newer rooms) while keeping the twenty in my pocket...

i do it every trip to Vegas. It has never not worked.

60 bucks in between the CC and DL got me upgraded from a tower suite to a parlor suite at Encore for 7 nights last trip out
