Exactly. How can a sport with SO MUCH VARIANCE quarter to quarter, team to team... have insanely tight finishes?

Frankly -- I think the players manipulate the scores for financial reasons. There's been loads of evidence and proven cases of this in: tennis, basketball and this week in badminton. Why would basketball be any different?

It's impossible to prove since they still win the game. They just have to slow it down at the end.

In women's ball I have never seen such close ending game scores in relation to the spread so often and consistently. Players definitely manipulate.
