Steve Smith donates 100k to victims of the Batman shooting

With all the arrest in sports that make the news...I wish more stuff like this made it!

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith said Thursday he will donate $100,000 to the victims in last week's mass shooting at a theater in Aurora, Colorado.The city will distribute Smith's donation to help victims cover their medical expenses. "As a father and husband I cannot imagine the pain and suffering the victims are going through," a statement from Smith read on ProFootballtalk.com. "My family's hearts and prayers are extended to theirs, and I hope this contribution might assist in paying some of the medical bills that will help allow these families to move forward in this tragic circumstance." The shooting, which occurred at a midnight premiere of the Batman film "The Dark Knight Rises", killed 12 and left scores of others wounded.
"Hopefully this helps a little bit," Smith said. "From one NFL city to another, God bless."

This was a PR move orchestrated by his agent, no way he thought of this up on his own.

Even still, I guess it's a good act. Not entirely sure how that money will trickle into the hands of the victims and how many greedy fukks will take their cut first.
