Maybe before the game, but I just don't see how you could be so confident seeing how the game is going.

Kazmir was bad. The Rays are lucky to still be in this game.

he did 3 in 6, but he was extremely lucky. The way he pitched, it should've been more like 6 or 7 runs.

Rays are very much in it because of a few fortunate plays by them and stupid plays by the Phillies.

The way Kazmir pitched, this game could've been blown right open several innings ago.

and yeah, 5-6 makes more sense.

but it wasnt, and you have to give him credit for that. the pitcher held them in it.

yeah, he did pitch out of it a few times; I just don't think he's the reason they're still in it. Poor start, and I bet he'd tell you that himself.

Anyway, now it's up to Howell, Balfour, and Wheeler and hope the lineup scores off the Philly pen.

yeah, it's amazing the way Phillies leave runners on base.

I primarily blame Howard. He just doesn't come up big in the playoffs. Twice he had a runner on 3rd with 1 out and he struck out.

                                            Ryan Howard:

20 playoff games batting cleanup in a good lineup. 6 RBI.

Rollins just isn't a great hitter. He never deserved the MVP and this year he reverted to his real self (.270-.280 hitter, .330 OBP, 10-15 HR power). The guys that scare me are Chase Utley and Shane Victorino. Werth would be third, because he can also hit.

not to derail this thread, but his OBP was under .350 and he wasn't nearly as valuable to his team as guys like Hanley Ramirez and David Wright. Hell, I would've given it to Pujols last year instead of Rollins. Voters like to give it to Phillies for some reason.

Well, win lose or draw, I am a man of my word and I'll admit that Hamels was sharper tonight. Kazmir did skate away from big trouble and Hamels himself escaped bases loaded and stuff like that, but even though it's a 3-2 game in the 8th, I was expecting more out of Kazmir this evening.

Good luck to everyone with an inning left.

Giving up 3 runs in 6 innings is called a quality start actually ... in case ya didn't know. And if your team has any kind of bullpen and offense, if you are able to do it every time, you win 18-22 games ...

quality start is a crap stat and also, it doesn't tell the whole story. A pitcher could be sharp and have bad luck and allow 3 in 6 or he could be bad and give up 3 in 6 because of getting some good bounces and stupid plays by the other team. Kazmir was the latter.

Plus, when you're facing Cole Hamels, 6 innings and 3 runs allowed ain't gonna cut it.
