    Buying votes with Booze...
This used to be standard practice in Chicago and other cites back when the political machines were much more corrupt.

Now, we just give straight cash. If the Fed pays $750b to prop up the markets for the next 2 weeks... that's about $2500 per person.

At least with the booze though, you got to keep it. With this bailout, we'll be paying it back for decades.

I'm pretty sure that New Mexico still won't allow the sale of alcohol on election day. Anyone else live somewhere that cuts off booze sales like that?

In California they hand you a beer as you walk into the polls, we know that you can't vote for either candidate fully sober...

Actually, the law has its roots in exactly what Justin was saying, buying votes with a drink. Back in the day, they'd bus American Indians in from reservations, get 'em all liquored up and then stand over them while they ticked off the candidate paying the firewater tab.

I didn't know that was up to each state. Thought it was a federal law. Anyways, both Indiana and Illinois stay dry until the polls close.

In most of latin america they do that for a few days around elections.

Of course, people still sell it and drink, just on the down low.
