    Which sport to focus on?
Hi guys. I have just joined the forum and deposited into my first online sportsbook. I know it is difficult to show a long-term profit, but I believe that focusing exclusively on one sport could make things easier. That said, can anyone tell me which sport (out of the four majors and soccer) they would recommend and why. I'm leaning toward focusing my efforts on betting totals, as I believe that sportsbooks put less effort into crafting these than the regular point spreads. To give some background, I consider the NBA the sport that I know best, with NHL a distant second. I also believe that college sports could be profitable, especially if I focus on lesser-known conferences. Also, do you believe specializing is a good idea? Any input would be appreaciated.

    Welcome, matant!

Baseball's lower juice and big menus of games can make it worth focusing on until football starts up. If NBA and NHL are your best, then it's best to just keep your action light until they get going.

Good point on college sports - it's best to focus on specific conferences if you can. You'll likely get an edge there sooner or later.

My advice, play to your strength.
My passion is baseball, that's where I focus.
I can tell you this much about baseball, laying -148 on public favorites will wipe your bankroll out, look for situations where you can get + money on a coin toss with a live dog.

      Welcome, I wish you luck
