    Pirates are really good
If this team had 1-2 more solid pitchers they'd be real sleepers

I'd love to send Dempster to Pittsburgh.

Mainly because I want to see them make the playoffs and secondly because the Pirates wouldnt' have the money to keep him so we could get him back.

you'd still be bidding against the other 28 teams... Pirates owner has also started to show he is not as cheap as he has been made out to be... he's just not had anyone worthwhile to pay to keep and no reason to open the wallet for a high priced FA until their core group of young guys mature...

i'd say theo should be in THAT position next year and not spend alot of $ and 4 years on an aging pitcher like Dempster.

basically Pirates Payroll=Cubs Payroll minus Soriano's contract

The thing is bedard, Burnett, macdonald are all good pitchers when they are they just lack consistency. Their relief is pretty good

The key to the Pirates current success and their 1st half success last year is Ray motherfunking Searage. Guy turned AJ from a has been into one of the best pitchers in the league, and yes going from the AL East to the NL Central helped. but take away the game when he took his lumps for the team and gave up 12 ER from redbirds, and his numbers are sick, cy young like shit.

Searage was awesome last year as well with a less talented staff that also had less depth.

Pirates are throwing tons of cash around on drafts. okay, not a ton, but they are spending cash on signing more talented young players than any other team.

And Clint has the boys playing some ball right now.

And they locked up Cutch, instead of sending him to NY or Boston.

We aren't fair weather fans here, but do show up to watch winners. they are winning and crowds are showing up.

                      Go Bucs.

I don't know about foked... they'd lose about 3-4 more games the rest of the way without him in the lineup from tomorrow till the end of the season. Pretty deep in outfielders in their system so not even that bad.

Mccutch gets most of the attention, but their bullpen, starters, 2nd basemen, 3rd basemen and Catching should receive a bit more credit.

                          What he said.

Lead the league in runs scored in June and currently leading in July.

                          Walker is solid

Watching the game now. Cutch and Pedro just became the only 2 Pirates in the history of the franchise to hit over 20 HRs in 92 games or less. Alvarez sucks, but when he actually makes contact, ball go far.

Don't talk "historical success" unless you want to look like a Cubs fan who began following the Cubs this season.
