at one time, kobe was indeed better than Jordan. but for a small period of time. I remember how great kobe got a few yrs ago. he was unreal and doing things mike never did. don't you remember how great he used to be with those buzzer beaters, turnaround jump shots, etc.. he was automatic..of course now he's died down a lot with age.. but no, he's not better than Jordan.. but had he continued that from a few yrs ago, he would have gone down to be the greatest of all time..

When his career finally ends, Jordan will be known as the better player...but not by much. Kobe was indeed great.. and clutch.

and i'll also add this..

What if Kobe plays 5 more yrs, wins 2 more titles, wins 3 scoring championships (now that nash is there) and of course becomes the all time leading scorer in NBA history..which he will end up doing anyways..

Also, if kobe wins only 2 more championships, he'll end up with 7, vs jordan's 6...

So now tell me, who'd be known as the best ever if all this occurs after Kobe is done? I say KOBE..

and i'm sure some of you will agree with me. and what i said for the next 5 yrs is very possible.

I always seen the MVP awards as a more critical factor than the Championships wins, if you're deciding the best player. In Football, Eli Manning has 2 super bowl wins but Peyton Manning has more MVP awards, Peyton is the better player even though he has less super bowl wins.

But the public wants to view players by championships and not by MVP awards in all sports.

If Kobe wins more championships and MVP awards than Jordan in the future. It's possible for the public to be biased and still say Jordan is the best NBA player of all time.

Goat, what can Kobe do at 34 years old on the downside of his career that will make him have a better career than michael jordan? I will go as far as to say he will stain his legacy by hanging around too long to it will go the other way. We will be comparing Kobe to Willie Mays and not Michael Jordan before its all said and done.
