I used to hack into systems years ago but I've never done anything malicious such as a DDoS attack. That said, being able to program certainly has advantages in this industry (in virtually any industry actually). Most DDoS attacks are simply executed by script kiddies, however. No self respecting hacker would ever do such a thing.
