no one wants to hear about how football players how better graduation rates than regular students when little boys were getting assaulted on campus.

it makes you wonder...Paterno was in decent health still coaching at a very old age, all this shit breaks the news and he dies. makes you wonder if he offed himself in someway knowing this would eventually come out, destroy his legacy and he would spend the rest of his dying days behind bars.

The victims in the case will be moving into the top tier tax bracket soon.

I get the feeling Sandusky won't be enjoying his prison time very much.

                        Ouch.

Stress can kill an old person and not having the will to live.

You see it happen when an old person dies and their spouse dies shortly after.

Paterno was an enabler and now his legacy is ruined.

                              Rot in hell joe.

Board of trustees will be handing out pink slips in the near future. Employees/university officials that helped in the cover up should lose their university pensions.

Amazing what you can sweep under the rug and get away with in a position of elite power/status, makes you wonder what the f else is going on. Hope all these guys go down in a big way, maybe even the death penalty for the Penn St program similar to what SMU was slapped with.

NCAA rules don't normally cover criminal acts.

                                      You're right they do not.

But, the NCAA can now make a case for "lack of institutional control".

And that is what they did with SMU.

Players molested kids? SMU players were getting paid. No players were involved here.

Nike taking Paterno's name off child care center

BEAVERTON, Ore. (AP) — The president of Nike Inc. says he has decided to change the name of the Joe Paterno Child Development Center, a child care facility at the company's headquarters.
CEO Mark Parker said Thursday he was deeply saddened by the news coming of the Louis Freeh investigation on the child sex abuse scandal at Penn State. Freeh says Paterno and other top school officials disregarded the welfare of Jerry Sandusky's victims as they failed to report abuse allegations against the longtime assistant coach.
Says Parker: "It is a terrible tragedy that children were unprotected from such abhorrent crimes."
Nike founder Phil Knight, who defended Paterno at the coach's memorial service, says "it appears Joe made missteps that led to heartbreaking consequences."

Just like an elite athlete, these guys think they're invincible and untouchable. Treat athletes and coaches like gods, and they believe they are.

Sick, sad story even without the coverup. Unfortunately, none of the "new developments" surprise me.

What's sad here is UCONN's penalty for academics will wind up harsher than what PSU will wind up with.

I feel bad for O'Brien, he won't be able to recruit much, and will hear crap every road game for years.

Joe pa's son will do far more damage to paterno's legacy if he keeps denying that joe pa had no role in this. He talks as if joe pa was an innocent bystander. He needs to stfu.

I wouldn't put it past joe pa. I believe that's what enron's Kenneth lay did. Take me to the back woods and I'll commit suicide, then they won't come after my family and estate anymore.
