Often times, going through these posts, I come across many posters who say things like "My Cardinals" and "We [insert football/baseball/basketball/hockey team name] just did not play well." I find it weird that so many guys who gamble on sports have not disassociated themselves with professional sports teams yet. College sports teams may be considered an exception, but even that is borderline.
When I come home and visit an old friend who is a big sports fan and never bet on sports his whole life, the way he talks about sports is very different from how I talk about it. My friend almost sounds like a little boy talking about sports.
I don't think it is possible to bet on sports and have favorite sports teams just because there are going to be situations that you have to bet against your favorite team. Sure, you can have teams you like to bet on or teams you ever admire but I am of the opinion that having a favorite team is for fans not gamblers.
