The NBA is becoming a joke as if it weren't one already
It's becoming all about these big market super teams now and players only want to play for large market high population area teams. Why do teams like the Bucks, Pacers, Blazers, etc. exist? Players nowadays are selfish ego driven crybabies who only care about jersey sales and the spotlight.

NBA might as well cut to the chase and revamp the NBA. Cut the number of teams to 14 so only super teams exist. Have New York and LA have a majority of the franchises since every player seems to only want to play in one of those two areas. The smaller market teams like Indiana and Orlando become a B-league. NBA is heading this direction anyway might as well do it now.

New Eastern Conference New Western Conference
New York Knicks Los Angeles Lakers
    Brooklyn Nets Los Angeles Clippers
New York Area Team #3 LA Area Team #3
New York Area Team #4 LA Area Team #4
    Boston Celtics Chicago Bulls
    Miami Heat Dallas Mavericks
    Philadelphia 76ers Golden State Warriors

NBA fans are the dumbest of any fan base.

I am an NBA fan and will be attending Bulls games, but just speaking generally... The average NBA fan doesn't give a shit if 20 of the 32 teams in the NBA are irrelevant. They will just buy a Lebron jersey and fair weather it up.

Personally, I love the fact that a dozen or more MLB teams can win when the season starts... probably a dozen or so teams can win in the NFL every season too. NBA is a 4-5 team window each year. No one else should even play.

They do need to cut some of the garbage markets like Cleveland and Sacramento. But I think 14 teams is too few. 22-25 sounds about right. Also, a few European teams would be good too.

I think the dumbest fanbase is a close battle between NBA and NFL.

These two sports are easy to follow sports and don't require a lot of attention and research to be knowledgable about them.

NFL is perfect for your average idiot because its only once a week therefore does not require a lot of attention.

NBA is perfect for your average idiot because its a superstar driven league, so all the average fan does is follow the big names.

MLB fans are the most knowledgable IMO. While the number of dedicated MLB fans are few, they know more about their sport with the numbers, stats, history, trends, etc.

i used to hate baskets with a passion. i swear, up until 3 yrs ago, i might've watched maybe 35 total hrs of it combined in the last 14 yrs.. and i had bets on it everyday. i just hated it. but i have now become in love with the game. i think it's all because of Lebron in miami, etc. the fact of him going to south beach and choking made the game that much more fun to watch. i just wish they didn't win it this yr cause it was so fun seeing him choke, but now that he's won it, who knows if it will have the same flavor as the last 2 yrs. he won it now, so it might be boring and no more excitement. but i did enjoy NBA like crazy the last 2 yrs. i was glued.

IF INDIANA played UTAH in final this yr, no one would've watched.

maybe now that lebron won it all, nba might become a dying breed again, just like MLB is now.

but you can be sure NFL will always be king. the ratings in nfl is unreal.

Because of the super teams, the super stars, and the large market teams

No thanks to teams like Milwaukee, Indiana, Charlotte, etc.

Might as well cut to the chase and trim the fat out of the NBA

Any team sport would have unreal ratings if it were only played once per week and only 16 games per year

It's because players are lazy and cowards that want to take the easy way out and try to stack teams. They are scared of competition because than they would actually have to play hard.

its weird how the cap had an opposite effect on free agency
superstars are more likely to join forces and surround themselves with lesser role players
instead of in the past where u had 1 superstar and u try and build around with good role players

u cant really blame a free agent superstar, they are free to go whereever they please
wat i have issues with are people who dictate where they want to be traded

Euro teams would not be able to compete on an NBA level. I would be in favor of cutting the teams down but then you just make it that much more selective to play in already what is the most selective league in all of sports...

This is an actual quote from one of the NBA's owners (Dan Gilbert):

"When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?"

A closer look at Dan Gilbert's letter to David Stern reveals some flimsy logic.

That's not some random fan venting online, that's an NBA owner saying that. It's incredible if you think about it.

Once again we can only blame Lebron. He created this mess cause he could not be a man and win with the cavs. Now other players are just following his lead cause they have no choice cause heat are too good. Hopefully okc can win so we can have a properly built team with draft and homegrown talent win it. It would be better for the sport.

NBA no different now than 15 years ago. How old are you, 19?

Bucks, Raptors, Grizzlies, Clippers, Bullets, Warriors, Hornets, Heat and Magic pre-Shaq were garbage year-in-year-out. From 1980 to 2005 only 6 or so teams won the Finals. So much for parity. Celtics, Lakers, Pistons, Rockets and Bulls, Spurs. Everyone else played for runner-up it seemed.

I doubt a bunch of 40 year olds (Nash, Allen, Camby) going to big-market teams matters much. Is that why you're crying!?
