Until Tiger wins a Major (imo 2) he is not back. He has never measured his success based on PGA tour events but on how he plays the Majors and WGC tournaments.

Congrats to Roger for winning wimbledon but he is far from being back on top. Rankings wise, yes, for a brief time, but its only a matter of time. The points system and tennis rankings can be very deceiving.

no its not, tennis rankings have clear cut and simple rules, ranking is very accurate, best player gets the most points
and yes federer will fall from no.1 but it is only because he is at the twilight of his career, he is already the best player ever, now he is just pilling on
and the feat of being no.1 at his age is astounding, he is the 2nd oldest player to ever hold the number 1 spot
that says it all, tennis players at his age are either retired or completely irrelevant

Roger has been playing great for 2.5 years winning many tourneys with all the big names in it
People here really do not follow the tour like me and some others

I don't disagree with the rankings being silly, but I do think Federer is the best men's player at the current time. 2012 records below with titles won. Each of the Big 3 here won a Slam this season, but Federer has more titles overall and won on all three surfaces vs. Rafa who got all his on clay.
He's been as consistent as the other top dogs and has won more titles. His consistency since late last year has been pretty remarkable.
