he probably acts like a mouse in the locker room. Try this-rip this team a new one to the
media to get a fire going. This team has earned that from him- they play like they have no desire to win.

Well, who do you replace him with?

Who would come to Boston after firing two managers within a year of each other within winning records.

Firing Valentine would be a hasty reaction- gotta give the guy a couple of seasons, first.

Its the players with massive egos that need to go (Beckett, Lester, Lackey)

Those guys are fkn cancers, you cant win with guys like that.

Red Sox didn’t fire manager Bobby Valentine today: He fires back at media though

Speculation was rampant that a Red Sox front office visit to the West coast today spelled out manager Bobby Valentine's demise.

The Red Sox are staying the course with manager Bobby Valentine so far, even amid rampant speculation that a trip today by one of the three principal Red Sox owners and the General Manager spelled out his impending doom. NESN reports that the trip was described by the pair as simply a “fact-finding” mission.

On Monday principal owner John Henry and general manager Ben Cherington made the trip out to Seattle, Wash., where the Red Sox are currently taking on the Mariners as part of the latest road trip. Henry told reporters that his trip was more benign that what was being talked about it.
Embattled Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine treated the rumors of his firing with his typical sarcastic demeanor. Valentine told reporters, “For any of you who are sorry I didn’t get fired, I’m sorry that you’re sorry”.
When asked how the breakfast meeting with his bosses went, Valentine quipped, “I’m always in a good mood after breakfast. It’s one of my favorite meals”. NESN is pointing out today that this series could be one of the most important ones for the Red sox since the team began this nine game road trip by losing six straight. If they don’t improve that record before returning home to Boston, the cries for Valentine’s firing will only grow louder.
The Bleacher Report recently wrote that the Red Sox mess is not soley the blame of Bobby Valentine. They say the fact that the players never bought into his management style, combined with Red Sox owners refusing to let him manage his way, meant Valentine never really stood a chance in Boston.
Fox News said today that first-year GM Cherington admits his team, "is hard to watch", and that, "the team's sad state is a reflection on all of us". The bell may be beginning to toll however, as today the Red Sox dropped the first of the series with the Mariners 4-1.
