Regardless of anyones opinion regarding his sports knowledge, Cowherd is undoubtedly a genius. All you have to do is listen to him burying caller after caller to ascertain that. The reality is most, if not all, of the media guys at this level are extremely intelligent. You simply can't fake being able to talk and think on your feet as quickly as they have too. Its an amazing ability which only a very few possess.
Only time I ever heard him really get beaten down in a verbal debate was to David Stern. Which is not really surprising, because Stern is probably the smartest man in sports.Comment -

Steve Hartman is the smartest sports guy ever and I have listened to a lot of them from the national guys to the local guys in a dozen major cities. Cowherd is an idiot, he buries callers because he has a call screener who only lets through dumb callers, a lot like Jim Rome and Nancy Grace, or anyone who wants to look smarter than they really are.Comment -

ESPN’s Colin Cowherd is a favorite around here, and on Wednesday morning he offered his early take on some NFL win totals.
The problem? I have no idea where he got his numbers.
He sure as hell didn’t look at the over/unders released by Cantor Gaming, 5Dimes or BetOnline.
“I’m telling you right now,” Cowherd said, “If you had $10,000 and you gave it to me and said, ‘Colin, bet four teams at $2,500 apiece to win more games than Vegas predicts,’ I’m gonna tell you my four right now.
“I’m telling you, [these four teams] are better than the wiseguys think.”

Cowherd’s Prediction: Over 6 wins
Explanation: “Buffalo is going to win more than six games. The division has eroded. Their schedule is workable. They have massively upgraded their pass rush.”
Actual Over/Under: 7
DALLAS COWBOYS
Cowherd’s Prediction: Over 6 wins
Explanation: “Dallas is gonna go better than 6-10, I’m here to tell ya. They were seventh in passing, seventh in sacks, seventh against the rush. If I told you there’s an NFL team, an elite passing team, an elite pass rush team that you can’t run on, and their one flaw they’ve mostly solved in the offseason, the secondary, you’d go, ‘Well, yeah, that’s at least a 9-7 team.’”

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
Cowherd’s Prediction: Over 3 wins
Explanation: “Indy is going to win more than three games. Andrew Luck is much more advanced than Andy Dalton. Dalton came into this league and at times played at a Pro Bowl level. Their schedule is brutal, but they get weak quarterbacks at home. Indy’s not going 2-14. They’re not. They’re gonna win football games.”
Actual Over/Under: 5.5
ST. LOUIS RAMS
Cowherd’s Prediction: Over 5 wins
Explanation: “St. Louis is projected, according to Vegas, to win about five games. I’m here to tell you, put $2,500 on those games. They’re going to win more than five games.”

We all know Cowherd frequently never reads this site, so hopefully he’s not too insulted by this joking post. But c’mon, an over/under total of three wins? Projecting the Cowboys to win more than six games?
Not exactly the boldest of predictions.
Maybe Cowherd took this post too seriously?
As a bonus, he also said, “The wiseguys also think New Orleans is going to win 12 games. I think that’s very, very overinflated considering they’re losing arguably the second or third-best coach in the league.”

Thank you for reminding me, I haven't listened to his show in years. He's incredible, he predicted Obama would be president before Obama was even famous. I actually listen to his show the Herd every morning on ESPN. I can't stand the guy and I think his an arrogant @#% but I love listening to him he always has a perspective on everything and he also does the blazing five picks where he picks NFL games against the spread during the regular season. He is a smart guy that knows what people like listening to and what they want to hear. He makes controversial statements and goes on and on about it. And lets not forget his love of big market teams.Comment
