I'm taking the czechs here. I see them as being undervalued and being looked past. The czechs have players that can give the portoguese lots of problems. I think down the flank the czechs can cause problems and some issues in the middle of the park as well. This port team is not that strong like some of the ones they have had in the past and I see the czechs as a team that has grown since the opening game slapping by russia. Too much value to pass on in a game that is a 1-1 draw imo.

Look - for anyone thinking of taking the Czech Republic, think back to the Russia game. This is how it will play out.

Czech Republic are not set up to be super defensive. They will attack. And Portugal will expose them on the counterattack, just like Russia. Portugal would struggle more against a boing defensive team such as Greece. But their speed and counterattacking capabilities are perfectly suited for this matchup.

Czech has low fluff factor. Hard to beat. Like the pick, also because if it comes down to pk's they have the better goalie. If Portugal had shown sharpness it would be different, but the Dutch handed the previous game to them on a silver platter, with one open shot on goal after another, and they only converted twice. They need far too many chances.

People betting on portugal because of czech opening loss and portugal defeat of awful dutch side who were so slow and weak at the back. Not the right way to approach this game. Look more at how the danes were carving open the portuguese defense.. That is what the czechs should have a chance to do.

This is not true. After the Russia game the Czechs adjusted their formation and Thomas Hubschman as a true holding midfielder. This is why they did well against the other teams they've played. If they got another go at Russia with their new 4-2-3-1 they would fair much better. During the Russia game they were very disjointed between back 4 and midfield. They were not like this after making this change. This new platform gives them a better chance to go forward and not get ripped to shreds on the counter as they were in the Russia game.

Portugal are going to have to 'make' lots of the play today. They will not be countering at pace guys. They will have more of the ball and must find ways with incisive passes to beat this team. There is no playmaker in Portugal's midfield. There is no Deco, no Rui Costa. There are good box-to-box midfielders.

Czechs will not give Ronaldo the freedom of the pitch like Holland. They might concede a goal and might lose this game, but are not the strong favorites the lines show.
