I'm certainly no doctor, but I don't believe these to be textbook systems of bipolar disorder. I think this sounds more like gambling addiction itself.

sounds like to me you are betting more money than you can afford to lose.

                  adjust your wager size.

bi-polarism is expressed through extreme mood swings, you do show the prolonged sad or irritable mood, your friends are right that you exhibit the sure-fire signs of bi-polarism, but it can also be brought on, as CrazyL says, buy gambling

gambling will only exacerbate these symptoms

ask yourself, before you started gambling, had you ever shown signs of bi-polarism? if yes, then it's obviously a chance you have the bi-polarism

either way, it's not good, and can lead to extremely troubling times for you right now or in the near future

                        Hey Dante...

I've got all of the above... I've actually got a condition worse then bi-polar. You can PM me if you actually want to talk about it; not sure if this thread was intended to be a joke or not.

Its a chicken-or-egg type of thing, what came first, the illness or the gambling? Its different for everyone. For me, I was ill before I took up gambling. Gambling is psychologically proven to trigger certain parts of the brain that release energy/joy and the effect never wears off because of the random factor.

Example: Lets say the home team won, every single time. Yes, you'd make a ton of money betting it. But you wouldn't enjoy betting anymore. The pattern and predictability would trump the part of your brain that releases this dopamine.

Betting, be it slot machines, sports, horses, anything else; gives us such a rush because we never know what is going to happen so each time we win it re-releases those happy feelings. This is why successful gamblers don't gamble, they invest; they aren't in it for the rush, they are in it to grind out long term profits.

For those of us that hate our lives, don't find joy in anything, etc... gambling gives us that rush, be it ever so brief, of feeling like we are alive.

dante culpepper buddy, good question.. all of the above, times 1,000 other things. i can write a 364 page book of what gambling has done to me and how it's fukked up my life. and how it's changed me. my life would have been better today had i never gambled.. i'd be more sociable and probably have a family and less fukked up..

Gambling phucks with my head m my emotions I cant think clear when im betting on a game all that counts is the score and the final result .

I take gambling seriously too seriously I rather watch a game that I have big money on that have 2 hot girls at the same time.

With sex I *** and its over with gambling the pre game high , during the game high , after the game high is second to none.

I think I need to quit gambling after reading this answer

ps . i am not friends with people who dont gambel since i dont have any conversation material

dave dimes what is the matter son? i wash my hands 300 times a day and have no problems with it. ocd is not curable and we just reload soap dispensers and deal with it

                                        Alan Boston said it best

""A lot of gamblers say the action replaces sex, but I really think they mean it replaces relationships and fear of socializing. We're all outcast and gambling occupies our time and we get paid for it.
For me for sure it was a way to make money an be by myself.Now.its become an obsession.I don't think its an addiction.I don't think. But then again, I have no life"

After reading this post, I will not allow myself to get to that point. I am and always have been a casual bettor, nothing more nothing less. When I have nothing to do and my wife is out, I like to cap games and put a few bucks on them for interest value. Funny enough, I've done very well over the years to my standards. I feel if I gave up everything (wife, friends, etc.) to become a capper, I would do well, but I'd be giving up things more important to me. This post is just a reminder that I am perfectly fine being a casual bettor.

Sounds more like depression than bipolar.

Bipolar would have the upswing of manic episodes which isn't one of the characteristics mentioned.

The illness of happy and excitement. I can honestly say gambling has never really had a negative affect on me. Maybe its pissed me off after a tough loss, but never more than a few minutes.
