Tina is a reference to methamphetamine. The derivation is as follows:

Crystal meth became known as "Crys", and as that became well known it was expanded to "Christina" which then was shortened to just "Tina". I'm sure as that becomes more accepted into the vernacular it will precipitate another adjustment to the slang.

In fact it is. Crank is the lower grade of methamphetamine which is catalysed by the 1-methyl,2-propanol process. If you've ever used it, you'll know that it's a unique high.

It got its name from the biker gangs who were the first groups to transport it across the country. They would stash it in the crankcase of their motorcyles, the lowest part of the engine where the oil collects to be recirculated to the moving parts of the piston/cylinder. Since this lower grade wouldn't melt or be expended by the heat of the oil, all you had to do was anchor it securely to the bottom of the pan. While it started out being known as "Prope-dope" because of the catalyst, the gangs eventually just called it "crank".

that is the same slang i've always known it as, regardless of whether it was ice, grade A meth, or one of the different handfuls of processes it could be made from. It has always been known as crank around here. Never heard tina before, but i'm not into uppers.
