Big Brown...the biggest fixed horse of 2008
This sucks - it would have been nice to finally see him go up against Curlin...

Dual classic winner Big Brown has been retired after sustaining an injury during a workout at Aqueduct the morning of Oct. 13.

Do you think the connections are playing up the injury to be more than it is, so they can duck the Breeders' Cup and head for early retirement?

Yes. His stud fees will be more now than if he was to run 2nd to Curlin.

Hey CrazyL -- I have a couple of ideas for a Breeders Cup handicapping contest -- can I (or you and I) put something together -- maybe get some SBR swag and some free plays for prizes? I'll be happy to put the rules together and we can work out the grading details....

                You're right about that.
They've already retired him - I just read it. His stud plans are finalized for 2009, too.
                That didn't take long

I don't know why anyone would pay big money for big brown to bang their horse. If the kid is a bust, which usually happens, then it was a waste of money. Might as well put that money on a game.

Because horses bred to rats are rarely champion. If you breed to champions, you have a 1 out of 200 chance to have a major stakes horse. If you breed to a rat, you have a 1 out of 50000 chance.

Wanted to see Curlin kick his ass in the BC Classic, but Curlin hasn't looked too good in last two victories either. Keep an eye out for Go Between in the Classic.
