Our high school coach didn't allow pitchers to do the regular weight lifting the rest of the team did. During weight training sessions we would just go long toss. Must have done something right, won a bunch of state championships and then a private school offered him a shit ton of money to come coach for them.
Always funny, Mr. Juan Cruz came up for the Cubs weighing about 130 pounds and was throwing 99-100. I bet his strict weight training program is what made it work for him.
