Former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling’s troubled video gaming company has filed for bankruptcy. The filing was made in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware on Thursday.Providence-based 38 Studios last month laid off its entire workforce. It also was more than two weeks late on a $1.1 million payment to the state.

The bank contacted them this week to ask why they mortgage wasn’t being paid.When stuff like this happens, investigators really start going over a company’s books. And when investigators start going over a company’s books, boy howdy do things get ugly. Because a lot of companies have fishy stuff on the books. If everything else is fine, no one ever knows.
But fired employees getting caught up in mortgages they thought their company disposed of? Watch out.

The whole idea of taking a longshot business idea like this is you put your balls on the line and if you pull of the miracle and succeed you get rich if you dont you go broke...thats what happens when you get into an extremely risky and expensive business like this. If RI wants to give away 100s of millions of taxpayers money to finance bullshit ideas like this they are nuts, to do what watch a bunch of these longshots instantly tank and go bankrupt and then if one finally beats the odds and succeeds it just makes some jackass conman like Schilling rich?
Im all for small business loans to start promising local businesses with a reasonable level of risk/success but this was a crap idea and a 100 mil instantly flushed down the comode, meanwhile theyll claim they cant pay school teachers or some shit...yea I wonder whyComment -

Of the 80 mil Rhode Island gave that Schilling instablew 40 mil went for leasing a lavish office building and new computer equipment that they'll now put on ebay for 20 cents on the dollar, about 400 employees salaries (before he stifffed em) at about 50k a year got 20 mil and the other 20 mil went for uh "managerial expenses" for an ex-ball players invaluable skills at guiding a video game design team to an impressive 3 month run from launching their first product in February to complete shutdown and bankruptcy in MayComment
