Why are people always making excuses for Barack Obama? He is an embarrassing incompetent.

Instead of wading out into public in March 2009, with the huge majorities we gave him in Congress, and boldly announcing (as Lyndon Johnson would have) that he was going to pass Medicare for Everybody, and then letting the opposition erupt, and then compromising down to a public option where Medicare could buy bulk drugs in from anywhere on the planet…instead of doing that, instead of being bold…he started waffling and compromising from day one and watered the whole thing down to an obese toad of corporate welfare that cannot be paid for without bankrupting the entire country.

What a totally wasted moment of history, that millions of people like me worked hard to set him up to exploit. This was the deal Obama wanted? It’s sure not the deal I wanted. I don’t want any more Civil Rights lawyers for President. I want someone who can pound a nail and change a tire and get the job done without the fabulous illusion of being all things to all people and having everybody like him. I want another FDR, speaking of Wall Street and corporate greedheads: “I welcome their hatred!”
