What's your favorite boat there? I was raised just outside of Shreveport, and when I left, they had just built the boardwalk in bossier with the bass pro shop.

Good Luck Tato.........hit the crap tables at the Shoe. Always good action and sharp players there, no bullshit rookies holding the game up.

Horseshoe is my favorite casino there. It's a 3.5 hour drive from where I live, but I'd rather make the 3.5 hour drive to play the table games in Shreveport rather than make the shorter 1 hour trip across the border to Oklahoma at Winstar and have to pay .50 commissions per hand which raises the house edge to 11% for table games. What a joke. Winstar is only good for Poker and nothing else

Agree, and I'm only about 45 minutes from Winstar. Been there 3 times since the place opened, it's the biggest fukkin joke for a casino. In a Big Top fukkin tent that Omar made. Can not see how the place has not blown away with all the bad storms we've had in the area. Must be something to that Injin shit, doing fukkin Wahoo dancing, keeping the evil spirits away.

If you're a Machine Queen, it's probably right up those folks alley.

Losestar is a joke. I wish I could go up to all the people playing the $5 blackjack tables at $5 a hand and telling them to get up and do something else with their money because $5 hands at .50 antes is pretty much impossible to beat unless you have ridiculous luck. Hell slots may even be a better play at Losestar, but then again their slots have no regulation or accountability board so who knows how much their slots pay back too.

Someone emailed the Wizard of Odds Michael Shackleford about the house edge at Winstar and he said the a $5 hand at blackjack with a .50 ante has a house edge of 11%. He then went on to say that you should not play such a game on principle alone. He said you could reduce the house edge by playing a larger hand(any hand $50 or more you have to increase the ante to $1.00) of $45-$49 but this only reduces the house edge to about 1.5% which would still make it far worse than any Vegas casino which are around 0.4%.

Another email from Wizard of Odds:

I’m very glad to see that you are back changing the world 1 mathematically challenged emailer at a time. I have a combination of a dear abby and an odds question. Here goes: A coworker of mine has gone his entire gambling life getting angry at the 3rd base player in blackjack whenever that player doesn’t follow basic strategy. He insists that that "bad" player is hurting his odds. I am 100% certain that it doesn’t change your odds at all. I have tried to explain to him that the reason he thinks it hurts him is because the times that it has in fact hurt him stand out in his mind, and he probably doesn’t even pay attention to the times that it helped him. I told him that mathematically, his odds are the exact same whether he plays at a table of people who never hit, a table of people who never stay, or a table of people playing perfect basic strategy. He doesn’t buy it. But, how can I possibly convince him that he’s wrong? Should I even continue to try? If he admits that he’s wrong, he has to admit that he has wrongly berated countless people at blackjack tables when those people were not hurting anyone else but themselves (and in some cases, if they were counting cards and adjusting their strategy accordingly, they weren’t even hurting themselves). Don’t you think casinos would be better places if people really understood that what I do with my blackjack hand doesn’t change your odds in the long run?
                            — Aaron from Detroit, MI

Your coworker sounds hopeless. As I have said before, the more ridiculous a notion is the more tenaciously it tends to be held. I’d give up on him and let him believe in his delusion. Personally I don’t give unsolicited gambling advice because it is seldom well taken.
Basically other players can't mathematically affect whether you win or lose. I also hate when people get fussy because I sit down at the table. If there is an open seat I am going to take the damn open seat. Whether or not I start playing has nothing to do with whether or not you will win or lose.

Staying at the Eldorado. Funny story was playing black jack and it was just me and an old black man. This bastard Was hitting on 15 16 while the dealer has 6's and what not. He talked just like the old man on water boy. Anyway he's talking to the dealer and she's laughing like she has a qlue what he's saying. Finally I couldn't take it no more cause I'm losing my ass. I say to her "what the **** are you laughing at you know damn well you don't have a ******* qlue what he's saying" the look on the dealers face was priceless.

Mickey it's been awhile since you're been there then. Winstar is like the 3rd biggest casino in the world. It's no longer a tent they are building a second hotel there too. It should say something to everyone going there to gamble that place isn't paying out only collecting.

over the long run, yes it has nothing to do with it.
but over the short run it WILL have to do with whether they win or lose, you're right though it might make their hands better/worse/etc.

but the same holds true if they arrive at the table 30 seconds later, that affects everything too.

people are superstitious (myself included) and even though it's irrational to think that mrs milwaukee watching me play blackjack has anything to do with the cards, it is still aggravating if she's watching and i lose 3 hands in a row.
