    Redick arrested for DWI
did you guys hear about this one....

how dumb can you be knowing you have the NBA draft comming up with in about a month. but, what really makes this even more dumb is the fact that he made an illegal Uturn in a police DWI checkpoint.

i bet the duke lacross team loves that the heat was taken off them for a few days at least.

J.J. Redick, a likely first-round pick in this month's NBA draft, was arrested for driving while impaired early Tuesday and has was released on $1,000 bond, a Raleigh-Durham, N.C., television station reported.

WTVD, citing a police report, said that Redick was arrested at 1:03 a.m. in Durham, N.C., after the former Duke star made an illegal U-turn to avoid a police checkpoint.

The television station reported that Redick is scheduled to appear in a Durham court on July 17.

The NBA draft is scheduled June 28 in New York City. How an arrest will affect Redick's draft status is unclear.

"I think that these things hurt anybody's draft status," an Eastern Conference GM, who wanted to remain anonymous, told ESPN.com's Andy Katz. "They do in my eyes. I take these things seriously. That's too bad."

Redick had previously pulled out of scheduled workouts with Orlando and Boston this week. Previously, he had worked out for Golden State, Utah, Houston and Seattle.

Among the teams reportedly interested in Redick is Houston, which has the No. 8 pick.

Redick, who won the 2006 Wooden Award as the nation's top college player, shot 47 percent from the field, 42 percent from 3-point range and 85 percent from the free throw line in leading Duke to a 32-4 record. He finished his career with 2,769 points and 457 3-pointers.

what a loser....serves him right. He, like a long list of Duke NBA players, will go on to have a sub par mediocre NBA career. Guy was a great NCAAB player....will make a terrific bench player.

Yeah, that Duke basketball program can really churn out NBA benchweights.

ummmm....given the proportion of Duke All-Americans, with all the lottery picks and with all the hype that these players arrive with....Duke players are well below average in the NBA. It's common knowledge. They are notorious for not living up to expectations and being duds in the NBA with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 players who have had success at the NBA level but that spans the better part of a decade.

This is an instance ISetcap of you arguing just for the sake of arguing w/ou putting any thought into your argument. Just b/c a player is good at the college level does not mean he is going to be good at the NBA level....

BB, I'm not arguing with you in this instance. You assumed I was. I agree with you wholeheartedly. The Duke program underperforms to an amazing degree when it comes to the NBA. What I find even more disturbing is that most Duke products are not even good "team" guys. I think perhaps the only player who has exceeded expectations in the NBA is Elton Brand. He is legit.

This is part of the reason why I find Duke basketball to be even more despicable than Duke lacrosse.

What a shame, they would have been a perfect couple.
