Let us look at this from a legal point of view. Like 9 months ago a certain well known sportsbook says I owe them $100 for a bounced check. I am not so sure of that. Last week they come in and email me again stating I owe $150 on 2 bounced checks. Interesting because I never use them. They also state if I do not pay they will report the debt to transunion and experian.
Ok, firstly this is an out of country sportsbook that, quite frankly, is running an illegal business in the US. They cannot report. After I point this fact out they go ahead and tell me they will not report but the check processor will. Ok, that is like sayin if you fail to pay your citibank card then ********** will report the debt. Not only is it illegal but once again the debt is not real according to US law. After I point this fact out then they tell me they will turn it over to some attorney collection lawfirm in the US who will pursue the manner. Alrighty then. The debt is not legal in the states hence cannot be pursued. Any attorney could not only lose his license but would also subject himself to the FDCPA. Any collection agency would subject themselves to a lawsuit also. BTW, no I do not owe 2 bounced checks and no I do not need help on this. The FCRA and FDCPA just happen to be my specialty and any agency dumb enough to contact me on this will be promptly sued.
