Assuming he's found guilty (would be amazed if he wasn't) - 'Bunny' Mellon should be on the hook for the cost of the trial to the taxpayer. She's too old and blind to appear in court, but there's no doubt she knew what a lot of the money she was funnelling over was being used for.

I haven't been following the day to day about the case, but it irates me to no end that a losing candidate or one that doesn't complete the race can donate the remaining funds to charity and get hired by said charity, before 1992 they could just keep the change. Way to fix that.
