For starters, you absolutely need a full scholarship for a big time program to invest anything in you, otherwise at the first bump in the road, they'd bail. They'd have no commitment. And contrary to other posters' opinions, the State of California is not funding this...the athletic departments at these big schools fund their own scholarships through conference TV money, sponsorships etc. so that angle is irrelevant.

My point is that how many other cornerbacks that are 5'9" 175lb with 1 int their senior year not named Combs get free rides to big D1 programs? Very few...they want the publicity and it is well worth the 200k to get him there.
