#7If true, they still have Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels with Vance Worley behind them.

The Phillies pitching isn't the problem, it's their offense that blows.

I can see the Phillies making a push for Josh Hamilton in the offseason. They are swimming in money.Comment

#13You must not have watched the Phillies this season or last because their problems remain the same.Originally posted by letsgo2nd in the league last year in runs scored since they got Hunter Pence, and they are six runs from being a top 5 NL offense without Utley and Howard so far this year.

Their struggles on offense are well documented and you can find any article pertaining to that fact with a simple google search if you don't believe me.

Cliff Lee has the lowest run support out of all starting pitchers in the NL this season. In a game against San Francisco earlier this season he pitched 10, count em 10, shutout innings and they still lost the game.

Against the better pitchers of the NL, their offense disappears. They have relied too heavily on their starters but you can't win if you don't score no matter how well you pitch.Comment

#17News: In the latest blow to its starting rotation, Philadelphia pitcher Roy Halladay was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a Grade 1-2 shoulder strain, the team announced Tuesday. Halladay will be shut down from all baseball activity for a minimum of three weeks after visiting with doctors in Philadelphia on Tuesday. The Phillies are hoping the two-time Cy Young Award winner can rejoin the rotation in six to eight weeks.Comment

#27You really make some dumb ass post... this team is swimming in money.. In case you have missed it, since 2009 they have been in the top 3 in the league in attendance, being #1 the past two seasons. This is on top of winning the NL East 5 straight years and going to the playoffs each year. This organization has plenty of money.. If you are stupid enough to believe that they signed cliff lee last yr, and rollins and pap this year, not thinking about the the future of this team at all, you need to just quit life. There is plenty of money to be spent, it is just going to come down to where they feel it is best spent. Pitching? Bats? Thats still to be figured out by Amaro and his boys... Honestly, odds are still that Hamels resigns in philly... This team had the #2 bats in the NL when healthy last yr and gave cliff lee a 4-0 lead in the playoffs... so when healthy, there are plenty of bats on this team. It really is just going to come down to how the rest of the staff holds up this season. Utleys contract will come off the books after next season, along with contracts such as blanton and victorino soon to be up... there will be plenty of money to be spent on hamels... that is if this team feels that is correct place to spend the money.. if not him, it will be spent elsewhere, dont you wry about that..Originally posted by zoo youkYou really make some dumb ass post. The phillies have NO money its all tied up in Howard Hallady Lee and Utley. They are brokeComment

#29Not just that, their farm system is close to empty right now. Hammels will be a Dodger next year (or even this year if they decide not to contend and try to get something for him to upgrade their farm system).Originally posted by zoo youkYou really make some dumb ass post. #33if they are 7 or more games back with 5 or 6 teams in front of them for a wildcard or the division, they should try to move halladay or cliff lee to get the money to pay hamels.

they are not going to be able to pay all of these players next year. the phillies have yet to go over the luxury tax threshold. they will probably have to in order to pay hamels. even the yankees are trying to get back under the luxury tax because it has gotten more expensive under the new CBA.Comment
