I love all of these people that keep coming up with reasons for why OKC can't or won't win.
People got really annoyed with me because I bumped all of the BS threads during the Lakers series.
OKC beat the shit out of the Lakers in the regular season and all of the sudden people thought we wouldn't beat them becuase it was the playoffs and we are a jump shooting team. People said the Lakers defense and size would cause us problems. LOL. How did that work out? The Lakers brought their "A" game for games 2-5 and could only come away with one win in a game in which they scored 41 points at the free throw line.
Why do people praise the Heat and dis the Thunder?
Miami is a jump shooting team. The only difference between Miami and OKC is that OKC is deeper, has better inside play, has a better homecourt, has a better coach, and has a better closer in Durant.
A two man team won't win a championship when your best player (Lebron) is scared to take the game winning shot. Did you people not watch Dallas dismantle the Heat last year?Comment -

In the public's eye, OKC is the darling. They have the superstar names of Durant and Westbrook, they just defeated the almightly Lakers and you can get them at +5.5. There is a reason why all of the public betting percentage sites have OKC as the public fav. And that says a lot, when was the last time the public wasn't on SA? Been a while....Comment -

I watched the two hour version.
It's pretty crazy for me to see the different sides of it. As soon as Bennett purchased the team in 2006, everyone here pretty much assumed they were moving to OKC. We just had the Hornets here and we almost knew we were going to get an NBA team.
The funny thing is, everyone here really wanted the Hornets. People loved Chris Paul and Davis West. When they left we were bummed. As soon as Bennett purchased the Sonics, we all knew it was to move them here. We actually started following the Sonics a little bit hoping they would get the #1 pick because we just assumed they would be here. I remember watching their games with my friends thinking about how horrible they were and how the Hornets were going to be awesome. (New Orleans was actually good around that time if you remember)
From watching the documentary, it's pretty apparent Seattle fans were oblivious until the very end when it happened.
Bennett is a smart business man. He knew what he was doing. He would have kept the team in Seattle had they been able to get a new arena but he knew that wasn't going to happen. So basically, he wasn't lying when he talked about keeping the team there, he just new that it wasn't going to happen. I guess you could say he was misleading...or liar. I don't know, it's all political.
Sonic fans should blame the people of Seattle, the Mayor, and Schultz. The people of Seattle voted no on taxes for a new stadium, then Shultz sold the team to a group from OKC (hello, how do you not know we want a team), then the Mayor broke the lease.
How do the people of Seattle get new stadiums for the Seahawks and Mariners but not the Sonics? The Sonics were the only team to win a championship.
At any rate, Bennett made a business move. He bought a team in bad situation knowing they wouldn't be able to build a new arena. He gutted the roster while they were in Seattle to free up cap room. He moved the team to his home city and was then able to build a winner.
Schultz and the mayor of Seattle chose money of their people. The team was losing money and Schultz sold it for way more than it was worth. It sounds horrible but that's how business is.Comment
