Which leads to hyper-inflation. Too bad a bigger country can't come along and buy up or merge with the failing country.

                Sounds like the US Treasury.

Apparently that debt clock in NY has now run out of digits, cos Bush has run up the debt so much. Every family in the US now odds close on $100,000 - in other words, several thousand a year of taxes just to pay the interest alone.

                      True, same here.

I'd love to overthrow a government.

                      Gives me an idea.

Americans don't have balls? We'll just have to disagree on that one.

I think Americans are strongly patriotic and want so much to believe that our government is going to do the right thing. That's the main issue right now, it's trust. Until something radical like freezing bank accounts happens, we'll still believe it'll all be ok somehow.

Right now, it chaos mostly seems like it's happening way over in Wall Street. Maybe retirees are losing their retirement savings, but for the most part they probably have a place to live, enough to eat, a car to drive, etc. One bank accounts get frozen and many people start having to decide between food and gas to heat their homes, things will happen.

The US gov't is too strong to fold in the face of protests. They will send in the police, national guard, etc. etc.

I've been in countries when protestors forced Presidents out of office twice (ecuador and bolivia). The end result was new politicians for the people to protest against.
