i bought a house for $400k and have stuck almost $100k into it, it's now worth $300k

so in the grand scheme of things if it's fun then who cares? if i can lose $200k on my house value without having any fun, then what's the difference if i lose a couple grand here and there betting on some games/casino/etc

Since about 12 for me. Same generation. Easily lifetime winner. Problem is I've blown (guessing) 200-300K on transportation, liquor, food, and other unmentionables. At one point in the mid 80's I was blowing circa $600 week on the aforementioned and still profitable. Lot of $$ for the average Joe back then.What would that be now 1800-2400 week. Makes me want to cry when I now have to get up to go to work. First real job circa 36 yrs old. I keep telling myself that when my day comes I can pass with no regrets. Life in the rear view mirror. I started by flipping silver dimes, playing odd and even. Also, pitching coins against the wall to see who could get the closest. There were a bunh of us. After I had cleared out all the buffalo head nickels, mercury dimes and silver quarters from my little collection, I started to use any money I could get my hands on. Next step was bowling for money, 'pot games', usually doubles 2 on 2. Would bow all nightl until the sun shined the next morning and usually went home exhausted with a nickel in my a$$. Also, played Pinball for money, actually one of the forms of gambling that I am probably up at. Got 5 ing trophies for Pinball contests, taller than the Vince Lombrdi trophy. And you know what, even though I'm down, I wouln't have missed it for the world. It's the best Dopamine rush I know of. We're all gonna die, so I say it. The nice thing is I WANT for NOTHING. I have ALL that I NEED.

Uggh ... hurts to say but probably over 100k in the past 15+ years online (bowmans tuned bet365) and going to Vegas heavily over the past 3 years.

I chalk it up to extertainment expenses like Mike said above. Some people smoke, do drugs, go to movies, etc but I choose to gamble, got to sporting events and spend money on a nice car.

I too don't know an actual number but if I had to guess I would say about $75,000 sounds about right. $10,000 in two days to the bookie was the worse by far. Lost every single bet on a Sunday then MNF. All straight bets like 10 probably. That was tough.
