Can anyone tell me why u can play hockey, baseball , tennis straight out of high school. But football, basketball u have to do at least 1 or 2 years of college. Make u wonder.

me: i don't think anyone would succeed in football if they went to the nfl out of high school. Would anyone draft a guy out of high school?


Thomas : cause the players that come out in football and basketball are black players and they are treated as they "need" college. whereas hockey, baseball, tennis are all white sports and dont forget golf. if a bunch of black hockey players popped up i bet you they would get an age requirement too.

Christoball, it had been a part of hockey for nearly a century, fighting that is. Hockey you are brought up through a system of professional levels and are prepared essentially whereas in basketball and football you can't just jump from high school to pros (I realize a select few in baskets can but it is VERY rare and they are superstars besides Kwame Brown) Baseball is the same way, you are put through highly skilled tiers of the sport, you're not playing with knuckle draggers and immediately placed on a MLB roster. Tennis is the same way, you're already competing against people of a higher caliber you're not simply thrown to the wolves.

You can't compare hockey and tennis to NBA basket ball and the NFL! You can be 14 and be at the top of your sport! No 18 year old could play in the NFL! With baseball you can either go straight out of high school or if you go to college you have to play for 3 years!


professional means paid. the nba doesnt need a farm system. the player should have the right to choose his profession. and nobody still hasnt acknowledged race has a role in it. hispanic aint black. what does hispanic have to do with it? i said basketball players, because basketball players are black.

Hockey, tennis, golf, baseball, etc. all have effective alternative systems in place for young athletes.

Most American NHL hockey players come out of college. Some of them move to Canada when they're 15 or 16 and play junior hockey. Canadian junior hockey is training ground for the NHL. It's like pro hockey for 15 to 19 yr olds.
